Austria Ski Trip – Feb 2026

BAM Kitzbühel Ski Adventure Recap

Our BAM crew kicked off an unforgettable winter adventure flying into Munich, where we were met by bus and headed straight into the Austrian Alps.

We stayed in the village of Oberndorf, just outside Kitzbühel, at the Penzinghof. The hotel rooms were spacious and comfortable, with excellent amenities, and the views of the Wilde Kaiser were absolutely stunning. The weather was mostly sunny, making every day in the mountains even better.

We had an amazing guide team—Tom, Matheas, Christian, and Tony. Tom’s calm, ( maybe too calm ) steady demeanor kept everything under control, while Matheas and Christian kept us laughing with their energy and constant jokes. Perfect balance of safety and fun.

Over the week we did it all: on-piste runs, off-piste powder hunting, boot-packing to reach hidden terrain, ski touring into untouched backcountry, even skiing down a few icy roads.

While snow levels were low overall, the guides still found untouched lines and pockets of powder. We climbed Bachhorn Mountain with sweeping alpine views and ventured into Osttirol for ice climbing at the Ost Tirol Ice Park—a real highlight and serious test of determination .

We even skied beside the legendary Hahnenkamm downhill. Got a whole new appreciation for downhill  ski race

Of course, no BAM trip is complete without a few memorable mishaps: I and Jeff somehow switched boots and couldn’t even get into our skis. Ed lost a ski, which flew down the mountain, but Tom heroically chased it down, almost running up the slope to retrieve it. Classic BAM chaos.

We also ate like champions: bratwurst, Franks, and the famous Kaiserschmarrn, with evenings spent relaxing in the sauna, including a memorable sauna sound + aroma therapy session with the “sauna witch“.

Beer, Jägermeister, and schnapps were part of the nightly ritual.

Two new guys joined our crew—Michael and Andy (known as  “Goldstein” from now on)—and they fit right in from day one. Unfortunately, Marc fractured his fibula on the first day and had to leave early, but the group rallied and kept the adventure rolling.

Our final night in Munich was the perfect send-off, devouring the legendary Schweinshaxe.

This trip wasn’t just skiing—it was a full alpine adventure: mountains, challenges, laughter, good food, and great friends. And now we’re already planning to come back in the summer to tackle the climbs.

BAM does it differently. More adventure. More chaos. More memories.

Oh , and our group? Nine docs, three lawyers, 2 real estate guys, all adding to lively discussions that ranged from deep philosophical debates to silly—and sometimes inappropriate—banter.

BAM does it differently. We did for more than 20 years .More adventure. More chaos. More memories.
