Chile -103 hours

What can you do in 103 hours?

Apparently a lot…

Fly from Atlanta to Santiago, Chile (1,706 ft) at 10 pm.

Drive from Santiago(1,706 ft)  to Portillo (9,450 ft) and ski up to 10,860 ft , than have a Pisco at the Hotel. 

Than drive to Los Andes(2,687 ft), and  after a shower driving  to have have dinner at  La Ruca restaurant in the middle of some fields, and if you are Joe Zarge-hoping that you won’t be kidnapped and have your organs removed to be sold on the black market. 

Sleeping over  at Hotel Inca, and driving on a narrow and steep  dirt road  to Arpa, located way after the middle of nowhere  at 8,825 ft and hiking 1,246 ft vertical , with the skis on your back,  and than skiing it down, and after  having a chorizzo along with a Cristal beer 

Driving back to Hotel Inca, and having a few more Piscos, ( this time sour) by the pool with a temp of 70 some degrees , and having dinner  later at Mikuy, the nicest restaurant in town -eating Congre fish and octopus and hydrophonic salad  while drinking amazing Malbec wine while listening to greta live music.

Driving again the following morning to Arpa, this time reaching an altitude of 12,002ft with a snow cat and having amazing runs until 6:30 in the evening and getting to see Aconcagua in the east , which at 22,842 ft  is the highest peak in the western and southern hemisphere and the Pacific ocean in the west. 

Driving back to Hotel Inca and packing our gear, than driving to Santiago.

Having a great late dinner (11pm) at Quitral restaurant in the hip  Barrio Lastarria, and sleeping the night at the boutique Hotel Lastarria.

Having a great breakfast in the  hotel’s dining room facing the sunken  inner garden and pool, and driving to Valle Nevado, (9,839 ft ) . Skiing great on and off piste up to 12,071 ft , on a great snow base (79 inch at the top)and having a great outdoor lunch complete  with  Nutella crepes and waffles at  a french look alike resort -all while the max temp’ was 81 degrees !

Driving back to Santiago’s Arturo Merino Benites International Airport, and having drinks in the Delta lounge  and exchanging stories and pictures with each other -prior  to flying back home to Atlanta-where we landed around 5 am. 

All in 103 hours!
